Urban skateboarders need a safe and appealing place to skate, and our City needs more vibrant family-oriented public amenities. The Buffalo Skate Group, comprised of individuals representing an estimated 11,500 active skaters located in WNY, has developed a proposal that has attracted both professional designers and wide public support to turn an underutilized piece of City property into a destination public skate plaza.

Some of the features of this vision will include:

• The establishment of a connective corridor that provides a universally accessible link between downtown and the waterfront
• Positive and healthy youth engagement

• Preservation of City of Buffalo Police memorial

• Luminous environmental lighting
• Destination gateway on our waterfront
